I was born in America, spent my childhood and adolescence in Europe and have traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
I have Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Fine Arts and a Master's degree in Fine Arts. As the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, I have been able to continue writing about my dogs, Sigi and LuLu.
My books do not teach children to be perfect; they do not moralize. I want children to know that they are unique and, therefore, special. We all feel jealousy, anger, resentment, sadness and fear. Children have little power over their lives and these feelings can become magnified. They should not be made to feel ashamed or that they are bad, but to learn how to manage their feelings and to see the broader significance of what happens around them.
The Adventures of Sigi series of children's picture books for children ages 3-8 years of age began in 2009 . The Wee LuLu series of children's picture books for children aged 2-6 years of age began in 2010.
